Notes | A staff member retiring prematurely and receiving a pension is regarded as a leaver and should be recorded as valid entry code 11, unless they are immediately re-employed in the reporting higher education provider's (HEP's) service. Valid entry code 05 should be used where the nature of employment is or was within the NHS, in the broadest sense. This should include employment in an NHS body such as a Trust or Primary Care Trust and should also include employment in general medical or general dental practice, even where other codes apply (for example general practitioners who consider themselves self-employed). When using valid entry code 07 it must not be assumed that the staff member has moved into unpaid employment. Valid entry code 90 should be used when a member of staff does not know the information. Valid entry code 91 should be used when a member of staff has explicitly refused to provide the information. Valid entry code 92 should be used when the provider does not know the information e.g. the staff member did not respond to the request for information. Where two codes are equally applicable or the person has more than one activity, the nearest to 01 should be given. Leaving information gained via a third party such as Linkedin or other social media should not be used as a reliable source of data. This information should be obtained through a leaving survey (template exit survey). |
