Higher Education Student Statistics: UK, 2022/23

Summary statistical bulletin of student enrolments and qualifications obtained by higher education (HE) students at HE providers in the UK for the academic year 2022/23.

Based on the new data model for 2022/23 this publication will include some changes from previous years. All changes will be explained in detail in the publication.

Environmental information for UK higher education providers is collected as part of the Estates management record and published in the tables below. The tables include data for the academic years 2015/16 to 2022/23.

Environment, Energy, Emissions and Waste, Tables 2 and 4 (2021/22 - 2022/23)

In 2021/22, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine incorrectly reported Total energy generated onsite by CHP (kWh) (EEGOCHPT), as being 200,674,513.000 kWh, this figure should have been 102,467,739 kWh.

Scope 3 carbon emissions from students commuting by public bus, Table 4 (2022/23)

In 2021/22, Bath Spa University incorrectly reported their figures for scope 3 carbon emissions from students commuting by public bus, in 2021/22 the figure was reported as 1,382,000.000 t CO2e and should have been 1,382.000 t CO2e. The figure for 2022/23 is correct (1,264.790 t CO2e).

Transnational education (TNE) students are those who study for awards or courses of UK universities, but who study wholly overseas without coming to the UK.

New provider

S P Jain London School of Management Limited was registered with the OfS on 22 December 2022. This is a new provider which will receive students in the 2023-24 financial year.

An update to our Finance open data to include UK higher education providers with financial year ends of January – July 2023.

Jisc recognises that we have provided less than the normal four weeks pre-announcement period for this publication. This is due to the need to adapt our publication schedules to account for the delay in publication of the 2022/23 student data.
