Notes |
A student undertakes a course; the course being a combination of subject and qualification that define what the student is aiming for e.g. BSc degree in English Literature. A student on a course is referred to as an instance. Since it is possible for a student to undertake more than one course during the reporting year, there may be more than one instance for a student in an institution's return. An instance is tracked over time using HIN linking. An instance can be linked to different course records in different years but these course records must all be at the same level (i.e. undergraduate or postgraduate). |
